What Actually Changed
On 1 July 2026, Envato rolled out the biggest structural change in the marketplace’s history:
- Exclusivity is gone. Authors are no longer required to sell only on Envato.
- Every author now pays a flat 50% author fee. The old tiered system — where long-term, high-volume authors kept a much bigger share — has been removed entirely.
RadiusTheme on ThemeForest since October 2013. Over 12+ years, 61,000+ sales, and 90+ themes, we earned Power Elite status, which put us in the top commission tier. That tier no longer exists.
How ThemeForest pricing actually works (most buyers have never seen this)
This part surprises almost everyone, so let’s make it simple.
When you see a theme listed at $59, that $59 is not what the author gets. It breaks into two parts:
$59 (what you pay)
−$12 Envato buyer fee (fixed, on every WordPress theme purchase)
-$47 “item price” — the only part the author is paid a percentage of
